Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno couldn’t hide his delight at his first call-up to the senior Spain squad.
Rodrigo was on Friday named as part of Vicente Del Bosque’s squad for Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg, the first time he has been included in the national team proper.
“It’s one of the happiest days of my life. I’ve had some very happy moments but this is the greatest,” he said, AS reports.
“I might seem calm on the outside but on the inside I’m jumping for joy.
“I was taking a shower and Paco Alcacer told me. I didn’t know the list came out at 12.30.
“I’ll go there with a calm mentality. I’ve struggled a lot to get to here and this is the dream of every player.
“I hope I do well and can continue to represent Spain. I’ve had lots of calls and messages, I can’t answer them all. I want to thank everyone.
“The years I spent at Benfica helped me as well. I’m grateful to all the teams I’ve played for.”
