Iniesta: Don’t blame Barca defence

Andres Iniesta has refused to put the blame for Barcelona’s Barcelona’s 3-2 Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain on the defence.

The Catalans made a number of costly mistakes at the back to make it a night to remember for the French outfit at the Parc des Princes, although Iniesta insisted the responsibility for the defeat lay with everyone.

“When we lose, we all lose – the whole team loses. It’s about the team and not just the defence, midfield and attack.

“We are all to blame. At certain points in the game they were superior to us but football is difficult, particularly against a team like PSG who know how to play well, and we lacked something, “Iniesta told reporters post-match.

The Spanish international was thankful that Ajax and APOEL, the other two teams in Group F, had drawn their game.

“It’s important that neither of the others collected maximum points but all that matters to us is making sure we do better in the next match.

“It’s never good to lose, even more so in the Champions League, but PSG were very clinical with the chances they had and they punished us.

“We reacted well, scoring almost immediately afterwards, but were unable to get back into it,” he lamented.
