Morata loving life in Italy

Alvaro Morata has spoken about his life at Juventus, having left Real Madrid for the Serie A champions over the summer.

Morata, interviewed by Marca, thanked his teammates for helping him settle in and expressed his contentment at his new surroundings.

“The truth is I can’t be any better. I’m happy here. I love the city, the team has welcomed me in the best way possible and I feel phenomenal,” the striker said.

“This is the best place I could be. It was a pretty quick recovery [from my knee injury].

“Playing for Madrid was one of the dreams of my life and now I’m at Juventus, facing another challenge in my career. Playing in Serie A with a team such as Juve is another dream.

“Now we have to go step by step to achieve our goals. It was hard to leave Madrid but when a team like Juve came for me it gave me the confidence I needed at the time.”

Morata pointed to one player in particular who has helped him adapt to Turin, a long-standing favourite of his.

“I was a ball boy in a game Fernando Llorente played at Vicente Calderon – when he played for Athletic Bilbao – and I had his Athletic shirt hanging in my living room,” Morata revealed.

“I’ve been lucky enough to meet someone like Fernando and apart from admiring him as a player, he has helped me in everything and taken care of me.

“He brings me to training and drives me, tells me where to eat or shop. We share a room when we’re away. He’s a great guy. He also gives me Italian lessons! I can’t ask for any more.

“The truth is almost everyone has taken me home after training. One of them even took me to the dentist. These players are a family.”
