Raul Garcia has confirmed he got a call from Arda Turan to leave the ball for him as Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu.
Turan scored the game’s winning goal, converting a Juanfran cross after Garcia dummied the ball to leave it to his Turkish teammate.
“I was going to hit it because I had to but I heard Arda. He screamed and I left it,” Garcia said, according to Marca.
“There were times when, due to one thing or another, we failed to play our game and things turned out well.
“We didn’t come out as we have trained in the week and at half time we corrected things and we came out and did the right things.
“The substitutes contributed. One day one XI can play and the next it can change a lot but people have to provide fresh legs, as they did here.”
