Real Sociedad sporting director Loren has said Jagoba Arrasate’s future at the club isn’t in doubt and results aren’t how they’re judging him.
In an interview with Marca, Loren has admitted going out of Europe at the playoff stage was an immense disappointment to the club but it’s not enough to throw the Coach’s position under threat.
“It’s clear that the first goal was to reach the group stage of the Europa League and that hasn’t been achieved,” he said.
“The Europa League doesn’t give you the money of the Champions League but prestige from playing in Europe is important to the institution.
“The players are hurt by not realising the potential of being in the group stage.”
Loren was asked if La Real are frustrated that the team could beat Real Madrid 4-2 only days after they were knocked out of Europe by Krasnodar.
“Very. Sunday’s win makes clear this team has potential, including to have played in the group stage,” came the reply.
“When this team is excited, focused, motivated and at full strength, the performance is very good.
“The club didn’t question Arrasate. Our confidence in him is the same now as at the end of last season.
“If we are able to do what we did against Real Madrid we must be able to be at more or less that level in every game. Results have little influence on the project.”
