Emery: Valencia were better

Sevilla Coach Unai Emery has admitted Valencia were probably the better side in Saturday’s 1-1 draw between the teams.

Aleix Vidal put Sevilla in front just before half time, only for Lucas Orban to equalise with two minutes to play on his first League appearance for Los Che.

Marca reports Emery as telling reporters after the match that his team are still coming together and the visitors were more deserving of three points.

“Analysing the game coolly, I must say they have been better than us at times,” the Coach conceded.

“We didn’t manage to be better than them, to impose our game to reach our goal.

“We were better at times, dominant in midfield, but couldn’t get the second goal.”

Emery also lamented the injuries to his team which meant he had to use all three substitutes to replace struggling players.

Vidal, Vicente Iborra and Beto were all injured, with Emery saying Beto could be missing for a few weeks.

“We have yet to settle. We’re in a period of building,” Emery added.
