Ancelotti ‘decides on Casillas’

Iker Casillas will be Real Madrid’s undoubted No.1 for League and Champions League fixtures, reports in Spain claim.

AS say Ancelotti wants to avoid a repeat of last season, when Casillas took the gloves for the Champions League and the Copa del Rey but Diego Lopez was in place for the League.

Lopez has since left for Milan and while Madrid signed Keylor Navas from Levante, the Costa Rica international will mostly see action in the Cup.

AS add that Navas may also get minutes in other competitions but Casillas is considered first-choice and will captain Madrid against Cordoba on Monday.

There is a chance Navas could play tomorrow in the Supercopa second leg against Atletico Madrid, but a decision has yet to be made.

Casillas is understood to have impressed Ancelotti with his early-season performances, against Sevilla in the European Super Cup and Atletico in the Supercopa first leg.

His place will depend on his form but as it stands, Ancelotti and goalkeeping coach William Vecchi believe Casillas is the rightful No.1.
