Simeone: Work in Turkey? Why not…

Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone has said he could see himself working in Turkey as he feels the country suits his personality.

The champions are tonight playing a friendly against Galatasaray in Istanbul, a fixture held in memory of the 301 people who died in May’s mining accident.

Marca reports that Cholo has taken a liking to the country. He was asked at a Press conference if he could envisage taking a post in Turkish football in the future and was receptive to the idea.

“Why not? There’s something that I identify with every time I’ve come to Turkey – the passion with which the people live life,” he said.

“I live the same way so I would fit nicely in this area, that’s for sure.

“We are pleased to participate in the game, to be able to help in some way. We hope to play a good game for people to enjoy.”

Turkey international Arda Turan will be part of the Atletico squad for the match and Simeone paid tribute to the midfielder.

“He’s key for us with his technical ability and his teamwork. He’s a player who has grown a lot collectively in terms of effort and teamwork,” the Argentine continued.

“He has natural talent and continues to be a player to make a difference in the team.”

Simeone also insisted he wasn’t concerned by the big-name players who have left Vicente Calderon this summer, but admitted he needed to wait before establishing the club’s objectives for the season.
