Guardiola wanted Kroos to stay

Pep Guardiola has revealed he wanted Real Madrid new boy Toni Kroos to remain at Bayern Munich.

AS reports the former Barcelona Coach as telling a Press conference that when Guardiola was struggling to settle his midfield at the Bundesliga club, it was Kroos who solved the problem.

“It was a great honour for me to be his Coach. I wish the best for him and his family and at the same time I want to thank him for what he did for the club last season,” Guardiola said.

“We had many problems in the beginning, especially in midfield, but he was always there when he was needed. He’s a player forever.

“We tried to convince him to stay at the club but I understand. He’s young and he wants new challenges. It’s his decision and we have to respect it. I hope he’s happy in Madrid.”
