Messi: The most important game

Lionel Messi has said he is ready for the most important game of his life as Argentina prepare for tonight’s World Cup final.

The South Americans meet Germany at the Maracana to bring the curtain down on the tournament, with Argentina a game away from claiming a first World Cup since 1986.

AS reports that Messi has used his official Facebook account to speak of his readiness for the match, which he describes as the biggest he will ever play for his country.

“[On Sunday] we play the most important game of our lives in this shirt,” he wrote.

“My dreams and my hopes are being fulfilled through the work and sacrifice of an entire team that has given everything from day one and believed they could do it.

“And for our people, the Argentines, who have brought us here.

“But the dream is not finished. We want to win and we are ready for it.”
