Del Bosque ‘staying until 2016’

Vicente Del Bosque will see out his contract as Spain Coach and remain in the post until 2016, reports in the country claim.

AS have reported that Del Bosque will be asked by the RFEF to oversee the regeneration of the Spain squad after the disappointment of the World Cup.

It’s also alleged that Del Bosque has turned down offers from elsewhere in recent months, from Manchester City and the Japan national team, which would have paid far more than he receives from his current employer.

Del Bosque will also retain the services of Toni Grande and Javier Minano on his staff but won’t have Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez or David Villa, who are each expected to retire from international football.

Albert Celades will remain as Spain Under-21 Coach, working independently but with Del Bosque’s oversight, and Antolin Golazo stays on as an analyst, but the Federation could appoint a new sporting director.

Del Bosque’s first few post-World Cup squads are expected to see a raft of new faces, including Saul, Jese, Gerard Deulofeu, Alberto Moreno, Marc Bartra, Iker Muniain and Isco.

Some established names, such as Fernando Torres, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, will also continue in the national team set-up, as will Diego Costa.

Iker Casillas’ future is largely in his own hands although the RFEF want him to continue as they feel the Real Madrid goalkeeper has more left to give.

Sergio Ramos, David Silva, Juan Mata, Andres Iniesta and the rest of their ilk will also continue to be involved but only if they perform well for their club team.

Koke, Thiago Alcantara and David De Gea, who AS say fall between the current generation and the next one, will also have a presence.

It’s said that Del Bosque has rejected the chance to go on holiday and is currently in Madrid, planning the future of La Roja.

Spain play a friendly against France on September 4 before the first game of Euro 2016 qualifying, against Macedonia, on September 8.
