Emery: Sevilla ready for Porto

Sevilla Coach Unai Emery believes his side are ready to overturn the first-leg of their Europa League tie with Porto after beating Espanyol.

Los Rojiblancos dispatched Javier Aguirre’s side 4-1 with goals from Stephane M’bia, a Kevin Gameiro brace and a late strike from Ivan Rakitic. Sergio Garcia netted for Aguirre’s men.

Speaking at a post-match Press conference, Emery said he believes Sevilla can come back from 1-0 down against the Portuguese.

“We’ve won at home and that gives us confidence. The team is ready, with hope and ability, to deal with Porto,” Emery said.

“There are 90 minutes of work to come but we can do it with the support of the fans.

“Porto is Porto and they have shown on their pitch they are a very good team.

“We need more ways to win and we know our opponent will cause us trouble but it’s a wonderful challenge.”

Emery added that the victory over Espanyol wasn’t as straightforward as the score might suggest.

“Espanyol caused us difficulty and it was close,” Emery admitted.

“But we had the consistency, credibility and perseverance to overcome and only think of this match. That’s the way of the League.

“This is the part of the season I find most beautiful. It’s very exciting.

“We’ve got fifth place and want to keep it. We’ve done that here.”
