Sevilla Coach Unai Emery has praised his side’s mental strength after the 2-1 win over Osasuna.
The game came just a few days after Sevilla beat local rivals Real Betis on penalties in the Europa League and Emery revealed at his post-match Press conference that the exertions of midweek forced his hand.
“The main aim was to perform the way we have,” Emery said.
“After the effort last Thursday, some players weren’t recovered enough to play from the start.
“The team always comes before individuals and this has been a step forward in this sense.
“Players who haven’t played much have done very well.
“We’re proud of what they’ve brought to the side. The performance and mentality of these players has been crucial.
“The key has been the mental focus of the team. They’re capable of playing well and have been competitive.
“A series of good results like this reinforces the work we’re doing, shows the confidence of the players and puts us closer to our objective.”
