Ancelotti credits Madrid atmosphere

Carlo Ancelotti has said the positive atmosphere around Real Madrid has been an important factor in Los Blancos topping the table.

Madrid went three points clear of Atletico Madrid on Sunday night by virtue of their 3-0 win over Levante – and are four points better off than Barcelona.

Speaking at his post-match Press conference, Ancelotti welcomed the good mood at Madrid, praised the performance in the win over Les Granotes and called for everyone to focus on the next game.

“We are in a good position in the League and the other competitions. The atmosphere is good and we have to continue like that,” Ancelotti said.

“We played with the same intensity and focus that we had in our previous matches. It was a very good game.

“We had many chances to score, but [Keylor] Navas had a fantastic match. I'm satisfied with our performance.

“We have to start focusing on our next match and try to win it. We were six points behind and we are now leaders.

“It's important not to think about too many things. We have to focus on one match at a time.

“What matters is winning the League and not how we win it.”

Ancelotti added that Dani Carvajal, who was stretchered off the pitch in the final few minutes after going down unchallenged, is not seriously injured.

Nor is Raphael Varane, according to the Coach, despite being substituted and taking a heavy tackle from Andreas Ivanschitz on his previously injured knee.

“Varane received a knock. I don't think he has any problems. His knee is fine. I just subbed him off to avoid any complications.

“Carvajal's injury isn't serious. He should be fine in a few days.”
