Del Bosque sticks with youngsters

Vicente del Bosque has named his Spain squad to play Finland and Chile, selected Iker Casillas, Inigo Martinez, Mario Suarez and Koke among others.

La Roja head into September’s international break and a World Cup qualifier in Helsinki and friendly in Geneva without Javi Martinez, Xabi Alonso, Thiago Alcantara and Carles Puyol through injury and Gerard Pique suspended.

In Pique’s place, Del Bosque has once more selected Inigo Martinez of Real Sociedad on from a first call-up earlier this month against Ecuador. Cesar Azpilicueta misses out at full-back.

Meanwhile, Mario Suarez and Koke Resurreccion of Atletico Madrid come into a midfield that also includes Real Madrid’s Isco.

Del Bosque has notably discarded Fernando Torres and Juan Mata, handing calls in attack to the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Roberto Soldado and David Villa.

In goal, Iker Casillas keeps his place in the squad despite having dropped out of favour at Real Madrid, whilst Pepe Reina and Victor Valdes remain the other two ‘keepers available.
