Modric aiming for double success

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has conceded that he is aiming for domestic and European glory this season.

The Croatia international joined Los Blancos last summer from Tottenham, and failed to win any silverware in his first year at Santiago Bernabeu.

But the playmaker has insisted that he wants to make amends this time around.

“My goal is to win titles with Real Madrid,” he told a Press conference.

“I’ve been here a year now and I have more experience. Real Madrid is a team where the pressure is higher, but I hope that we have a better season than last year, because our goal is to win titles.

“If I could choose, I want to win the Champions League, but La Liga is also important to us, and I would like to win both titles.

“It’s a long season, and we have to be well prepared for it. We want to start out right with both competitions.

“For now everything is going great. The team is training really well and we’ve played two good matches.

“The first match against Bournemouth wasn’t very difficult, but we played well, and against Lyon it was more difficult, and we also played well. I have a really good feeling about this coming season.”

The 27-year-old then commented on Saturday night’s friendly with Paris Saint-Germain and his relationship with Gareth Bale.

“I think that tonight’s game is a good test for us. We've spent two weeks training and it’s a good test to face a great team with really good players.

“We want to play better each match, and it will be really interesting to watch the game tonight.

“I've got a really good relationship with Bale, but I don't talk about players who aren't on the team. I’ll just say that he’s a great player.”
