City close in on Negredo

Reports are that Sevilla have accepted a €28m transfer proposal from Manchester City to sign Alvaro Negredo.

Despite President Jose Maria del Nido’s assertion yesterday afternoon that Atletico Madrid were closer to matching the Andalucians’ valuation of the 27-year-old than City, it is believed that the Premier League side are on the verge of completing a deal.

Estadio Deportivo report that an initial €25m fee has been agreed for Manuel Pellegrini’s side to pick up Negredo this summer, with a further €3m then due in variables.

With the player already seen as having an agreement in principle with City, reports are that a deal could be concluded and announced during the course of Tuesday.

Any move to Eastlands for Negredo would see the striker follow Jesus Navas from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, after his move between the clubs earlier this summer for a fee of between €23m and €28m.
