OFFICIAL: Madrid appoint Ancelotti

Real Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Italian Carlo Ancelotti as their new Coach, replacing the departed Jose Mourinho.

Since the Portuguese’ release at the end of the 2012-13 season, reports have strongly linked Los Blancos with a move for Ancelotti.

However, it has been hit by delays due to the 54-year-old’s employers Paris Saint-Germain refusing to release him from the final year of his contract with them, until they had sourced a replacement.

Tuesday morning has now seen the French confirm an agreement with Laurent Blanc and Madrid at the same time confirm that they have now been able to pick up Ancelotti, on a three-year contract.

“Real Madrid will present tomorrow, on Wednesday June 26, Carlo Ancelotti as the new Coach of the first team for the next three seasons,” read a statement released by Madrid on Tuesday.

“The event will take place at 1pm at the Santiago Bernabeu. Following on, Carlo Ancelotti will appear before the media in the Press room.”
