Pellegrini after Pepe

Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly keen on bringing Real Madrid’s Pepe to Manchester City this summer.

Pellegrini is widely expected to leave Malaga this summer to sign on as Roberto Mancini’s replacement at Eastlands.

A number of players have been listed as part of the Chilean’s plans for the Premier League runners-up, but Marca understand that Madrid’s Pepe has emerged as his primary objective.

Reportedly valued by Los Blancos at €25m, the defender is believed to be set to be made available for transfer this summer.

Even so, and amid Pellegrini’s reported ambition to bring the player to England, whoever is Coach at Madrid for next season will apparently have the final say on Pepe’s future at the club.

Despite a falling out with expected-to-depart Jose Mourinho, the 30-year-old Portuguese international is seen as keen on staying at the Santiago Bernabeu.
