Gala’s Yilmaz appeal rejected

Galatasaray have been dealt a blow with the news that Burak Yilmaz’ suspension against Real Madrid has been upheld by UEFA.

The Turks had appealed the yellow card the striker picked up in the first leg Champions League quarter-final last week, in the hope that it would be annulled, his suspension lifted and that he would be able to play in tonight’s second leg.

However, the appeal, which was based on pictures that showed Sergio Ramos standing on his foot, in argument that he therefore could not be booked for diving, has been rejected by UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Committee.

UEFA also confirmed that Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos will not be punished further for the suspicion of deliberately invoking suspensions for tonight’s second leg.
