Pepe: Las Vegas heat made it hard

Real Madrid defender Pepe admitted after the 2-1 win over Santos Laguna that the heat had made it very difficult for the players.

The game, held at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, was played in temperatures that reached as high as 38 degrees and the Portuguese defender was thankful Madrid boss Jose Mourinho gave his players just 45 minutes each.

"The Coach gave every player one half of the game and that was good because what he was trying to do was give each of us some playing time.

“Even so, it was very hot and that made it difficult. It was something that we are not used to,” commented Pepe in declarations made to Real Madrid’s official website.

“On a personal level I felt good, although like I say the heat was a problem, but I felt okay.”

Mourinho’s men still have two games left in North America: on Wednesday they take on Milan in New York’s Yankee Stadium before travelling to Philadelphia for Saturday’s clash with Glasgow Celtic.
