WATCH: Robert Lewandowski restores Barcelona’s lead against Girona from the penalty spot

It was a frantic start at Montilivi, with two goals inside the opening four minutes. It has since calmed down, but just before the half time interval, Barcelona have gone 2-1 up against Girona at Montilivi.

It was the visitors that struck first courtesy of Andreas Christensen, but less than 60 seconds later, Artem Dovbyk headed home an immediate equaliser for Girona.

Now, inside stoppage time at the end of the first half, Barcelona have re-taken the lead. Lamine Yamal was fouled by Miguel Gutierrez just inside the penalty area – the decision was not given on-field, but it was awarded after a VAR check. Robert Lewandowski stepped up, and made no mistake from 12 yards.

Barcelona have edged the first half at Montilivi, and their reward is a second goal. If they can hold on for the three points, they would take a big step towards securing a top two finish in La Liga, and also delay confirmation of Real Madrid’s title win.
