Barcelona meeting with Dani Olmo’s father was regarding Manchester United target, not Spain star

It was very quickly made an open secret that Dani Olmo’s father, Miquel Olmo, had met with Barcelona Sporting Director Deco on Wednesday night, with many presuming that the Blaugrana were interested in the RB Leipzig playmaker. The latest is that this was not the case though.

Olmo’s agent is in fact Andy Bara, and while Olmo did grow up just a stone’s throw from Barcelona, coming through at La Masia before moving to Dinamo Zagreb at 15, his price tag will likely preclude the Blaugrana for moving for him. His release clause is believed to be in the region of €50-60m.

Now Sport say that it was in fact regarding Mikayil Faye. Miquel Olmo is the sporting director at Niagara Sports, a representation agency that is in charge of Faye, and he met with Deco to discuss the Senegalese defender’s future next season.

Barcelona reportedly intend to promote Faye to the first team, and while his salary is already high for Barca Atletic, they will increase his wages to fend of interest from elsewhere.

Faye has been scouted by the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United and Juventus amongst others in recent months, and has been posited as a prime candidate for a sale this summer. With Barcelona looking to bring in some much needed income from sales, Faye looks as if he could already command a decent price, even if the noises being made publicly are that he will be part of the squad next season.
