Manchester United considering their options with reported Barcelona and Atletico Madrid target

One player to watch during this summer’s transfer window will be Mason Greenwood. The 22-year-old has had an impressive season with Getafe, whom he joined on loan last September from Manchester United.

In recent months, Greenwood has attracted interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus, and ESPN (via MD) have reported that Barcelona also appreciate Greenwood as a possible target. The expectation has been that Man United will look to orchestrate another departure, but it’s now not clear what path will be taken.

The report states that Man United are yet to decide whether to sell Greenwood, organise another loan deal (possibly to Getafe again) or keep him altogether. The latter is likely to not go down well with the club’s supporters, given that Greenwood had been charged with attempted rape a couple of years ago, before the charges were dropped in 2023 after a key witness pulled out of the legal proceedings.
