Bayern Munich close to giving up on Alphonso Davies renewal, Chelsea believe “he’ll end up at Real Madrid”

Alphonso Davies has been the subject of intense speculation over the last few months, with his contract at Bayern Munich set to expire at the end of next season. Attempts have been made for a renewal, but so far, no agreement has looked even close to being reached by the two parties.

Real Madrid have identified Davies as their top left-back target for the summer, and if he doesn’t extend his stay in Bavaria, the likelihood is that he will be available on a cut-price deal. Max Eberl, Bayern’s Director of Football, confirmed to German media that negotiations are still ongoing at this stage.

However, it’s been reported by Bild (via Diario AS) that Bayern have submitted their final offer to Davies. If it is not accepted, he will be transfer-listed, opening the door for Real Madrid to get their man – provided that a fee can be agreed (personal terms are already sorted).

Real Madrid aren’t the only ones keen on Davies, with Chelsea also noted as an interested party. They consider the Canadian defender as an option at left-back, although as Ben Jacobs has told The Daily Briefing, they do not expect to be able to land him.

“Chelsea have plenty of other options. One is Bayern’s Alphonso Davies, but the feeling is he’ll end up at Real Madrid if he leaves Bayern. Chelsea know this so it would be quite surprising if they prioritise Davies. It’s little more than admiration from afar at this point.”

It does look increasingly likely that Real Madrid will snap up Davies. They want to get him as soon as possible, although reports have suggested that they are happy to wait until 2025, should Bayern not adhere to their preferred transfer fee.
