Real Madrid coaching staff disagree with club over stance on player future

Turkish starlet Arda Guler has been a common feature in the headlines this season for Real Madrid, albeit without having done too much wrong. The 19-year-old is in part victim of the lack of major drama at Real Madrid this season, but he does divide opinion at Valdebebas.

On Monday it emerged that Guler had been disciplined by Carlo Ancelotti for going out at night at a crucial stage of the season, while teammates also had words with him. The same report also declared that Los Blancos are divided on whether his development would be best served by a loan move next season to give him more game time, or keeping a closer eye on Guler by holding onto him. The player himself is determined to remain at the club.

Matteo Moretto has confirmed to Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that the divide mentioned has a fairly clear line. It is the coaching staff and Ancelotti that believe Guler should head out on loan, while the club and the hierarchy are of the opinion that he should remain close to home.

Ultimately, if Guler cannot convince Ancelotti that he deserves more minutes, then it will be difficult for him to continue developing. This debate of course comes in the context of the expected arrival of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick Felipe this summer, which will only increase the competition for game time. It appears Guler is already starting at a disadvantage.
