‘Rummenigge? Players will do talking’

Clemente Villaverde says Atletico Madrid’s players “have to do the talking” after they were drawn against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.

Rummenigge has been quoted as saying that Atleti did not deserve to reach the quarter-finals as the likes of Juventus had been eliminated too early, and Villaverde urged his team to disprove the Bayern CEO ahead of the two clubs’ last-four tie.

“Atletico have showed enough solvency to cope with these types of games,” the director said after Friday’s draw in Nyon.

“I don’t know if it’s good or bad that Bayern didn’t want us, but it speaks of the respect we’ve earned in recent years.

“[On Rummenigge], those who have to do the talking are the players.”
