Saul Niguez admits that he was ‘surprised’ by the manner of Antoine Griezmann’s departure of Atletico Madrid.
The midfielder explained the nature of Griezmann’s transfer to Barcelona ‘was not the best’ but insisted that all parties would move on.
“He was already deciding to leave, but he surprised me,” Saul admitted on Cadena Cope, as cited by Marca.
“He was a very important player at Atlético de Madrid and that he has left has made it complicated.
“Atleti are above any player and when he has put on the shirt there was nothing to reproach him for. His way out was not the best, but we must not crush him either.
“Diego Costa? I see him in a great light, I love it when he is like this because he is infectious to us, his teammates.
“He is a player we need at all times, I love that he defends his teammates as he did against Madrid, who fights for the shirt and I think that if Diego Costa is at his best level it will be the best signing we have.”
