Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen out of Copa del Rey final

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will miss the Copa del Rey final against Valencia with a knee injury, report Marca.

Earlier this month, the club have confirmed the German international has sustained a knee injury and is ‘having trouble’ but vaguely added that his ‘availability will depend on how things develop’.

The 27-year-old did not appear at all in last season’s Copa del Rey tournament with number two Jasper Cillessen instead selected throughout the tournament.

The same arrangement appeared to be in place this season, but the German was selected for both legs of Barca’s semi-final triumph over El Clasico rivals Real Madrid.

Cillessen is now likely to be selected for the showpiece of the Copa in Seville later this month having played in recent La Liga games against Celta Vigo, Getafe and Eibar.

However, the Dutch international has been heavily linked with a summer exit from the Camp Nou and the club are reportedly locked in talks with Portuguese league leaders Benfica.

He may still have a vital part to play in the club’s campaign with Ter Stegen not even on the bench.
