Barcelona have begun negotiations to extend the contract of full-back Jordi Alba, according to a report in Diario Sport.
The report states the sports management of the Catalan giants have initiated contact with the defender’s representatives regarding a new deal.
The 29-year-old wants to commit his long-term future to the club but the Blaugrana are said to have delayed the offer for economic purposes.
The left-back’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2020 and possesses a €150m release clause but he wants an improved contract.
Alba has played more than 250 matches for Barca after his 2012 move from Valencia with his last renewal penned in 2015.
