Luis Figo: Real Madrid weaker after Cristiano Ronaldo sale

Luis Figo believes Real Madrid are weaker following the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo and it is natural they are ‘in a period of transition’.

The former Blancos winger not only spoke in glowing terms of his fellow Portuguese but believed Madrid should seek to replace him with Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

“These sales lead to a period of transition,” Figo told DAZN, as cited by Diario AS.

“He is one of the most important players in football not only contemporarily but in the sport’s history, because he guarantees a lot of goals at decisive moments.

“Over the last number of years Madrid have won a lot of titles but this is not always the case in football and you cannot possibly win all the time.

“Should Eden Hazard replace him? He is a great player for sure and definitely one of the best in football right now, and importantly he wants to play for Real Madrid.

“He is not currently on a long-term deal so why not?”
