Valverde: Barca must improve

Ernesto Valverde warns Barcelona must start matches better after they fell behind to an early goal against Huesca, despite eventually winning 8-2.

“I’ve talked to Pique and I don’t think [the arrest] affected his performance. He’ll move on from it in the best way possible, I have no doubt,” the Coach said after Sunday’s match.

“We did a lot in attack, scoring several goals, which were the products of our performance and the chances we created.

“It was also a match where they were dangerous. if we got caught on the break, it’s because they have profound players like Hernandez and Gallar.

“The match was uphill for us, but pressing their box like we did, we had the resources to penetrate and score as many as we did.

“We went into half-time with the match in the air, but in the second half we were more clinical with our finishing.

“We didn’t concede too many chances, but they scored from both of theirs and it’s something that rankles me because we didn’t start well.

“That’s something we need to analyse it because no-one likes to start a goal down, although our opponents play to annoy us.”
