Newcastle United will trigger the €4m release clause of highly-rated Deportivo defender Fabian Schar, according to reports.
The Switzerland international defender impressed for his nation against Brazil in Sunday night’s World Cup clash and is now being linked with a move away from recently relegated Depor.
The 26-year-old signed a four-year contract at the Galician club last summer but his attainable release clause has alerted a number of clubs, according to El Desmarque.
The Chronicle’s chief Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder has also confirmed the Magpies were preparing a move.
Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, Italian giants Lazio and Glasgow Celtic have already registered an interested in the central defender.
Schar made 27 appearances for Deportivo last summer, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
