Busquets rues ‘worst’ experience

Sergio Busquets concedes Barcelona’s Champions League exit to Roma is ‘my most negative experience’ and ‘probably the worst blow of my career’.

Busquets’ Barca were eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday as Roma prevailed 3-0 on the away-goals rule, and the midfielder could not hide his disappointment after the match.

“It’s my most negative experience. We went out in a similar way last season,” he told BeIN Sports.

“We’re out of the Champions League, which we didn’t want after a good result in the first leg… but that’s football.

“They took us to their place and created chances against us. We didn’t position ourselves well, that’s why they won and we didn’t.

“They were the better team and for them, it was almost a case of all or nothing. The worst blow of my Barca career? Probably, yes. We came into the game from a very good run of form, but unfortunately this has cut all our good work.

“Valverde’s decisions? Our approach is to do with everyone on the pitch. We have to go for all the trophies we have left.

“It wouldn’t be a bad season if we won them, but it’s been tarnished by what happened here in Rome.”
