Sevilla: Montella out, Caparros in?

Sevilla are considering the future of both Coach Vincenzo Montella and sporting director Oscar Arias, with former boss Joaquin Caparros linked to a return.

A report in Sevilla Info states Los Rojiblancos are considering dismissing the underperforming Italian tactician before the season is out, with ‘grave concerns’ for Arias.

Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Celta Vigo saw Sevilla fall three points behind city rivals Real Betis in the standings as they languish in seventh place and continue to look over their shoulders.

The five-time Europa League winners remain in the Champions League ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Bayern Munich and will contest the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona later this month.

Montella replaced Eduardo Berizzo in the Sevilla dugout in December but has seen his side slip two places in the table with a series of heavy domestic defeats.

Caparros, 62, has managed 13 clubs across Spanish football with his most famous stint a five-year spell at Sevilla between 2000 and 2005.

Most recently, Caparros managed Osasuna between November and January last season but his side only won once in his eight matches in charge before spending six months at Qatari club Al Ahli.
