Ter Stegen blasts ‘awful’ Getafe pitch

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has hit out at the ‘awful’ state of Getafe’s pitch during the side’s league encounter on Saturday.

The Blaugrana came from a goal down to fight back for a narrow 2-1 victory at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez but the German goalkeeper, who was making his 100th appearance for the club, criticised the pitch condition.

“It was frustrating as our first concern was having to play against the pitch, which was awful,” Ter Stegen is quoted by Marca as saying in the mixed zone.

“This needs to be said and also says a lot that this is the only way teams think they can disrupt us and get at us…this is a pitch you could not play good football on.

“The grass had not been cut properly and was long, meaning this victory is even more valuable for us.”
