Friday’s draw in Nyon paired Atleti with Bayern in a repeat of the 1974 European Cup final, which was won 4-0 in a replay by the Germans.
Madrid, meanwhile, drew and beat City in the group stage four years ago as Manuel Pellegrini returns to the club he managed in the 2009-10 season.
The first legs will be played over April 26-27, with the return fixtures lined up for a week later.
