Marcelino expects a difficult game against Europa League rivals Rapid Vienna but believes Villarreal have ‘the will to win.’
A win for the Yellow Submarine will see them qualify from Group E, with Rapid already assured of a place in the next round and the teams essentially vying for first place.
“We have to win be sure of qualification but we want to be first so the victory is needed to stay alive in the competition, and we come from not winning at home so we’d like to do that again,” Marcelino said, AS reports.
“Clearly it won’t be an easy game. They’re having a great season, they’re competing very well in Europe, but we have the ambition and the will to win.
“We’re in a moment when we beat Sevilla, competed with Barcelona and drew with Eibar, but I have the feeling we have doubts. We have injuries in attack and that limits us.
“I expect us to be protagonists, to attack well and prevent the counter-attack which is one of their best weapons. Our League is very intense and we should have that intensity until the end of the game.”
