Djukic wants aggressive Valladolid

Miroslav Djukic is full of respect for weekend opponents Malaga and has urged his Real Valladolid players to be aggressive if they want to pick up a result.

The Anchovies travel out to the Jose Zorilla this Saturday evening still occupying the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.

The team are also in action the following midweek in the Champions League, in the second leg of their Last 16 clash with Porto.

“I wish they are distracted by that game, but I do not think they will be,” reflected Djukic in his pre-game conference this week.

“They are a team that is doing great things and we have to think that we can stop them. We will face one of the best teams in the League and we have to compete and try to do things right.

“Malaga are very organised, they combine well on the inside, whilst they use the wings very well too. They are a team that is good with the ball, so we will have to be very aggressive.

“They defend well as a group, but do not like to run after the ball. If we can pick up some points then it will be an important step. We must be very aggressive to achieve this.

“It is important that the team maintains its strength, where we have been effective and have competed well in our last two difficult games. I want us to keep growing and improving.”

Djukic also hinted at plans for next season.

“The base will be those players from this season. We will maintain the block with the same philosophy and I think this will help us. We have competed well this year, we still are and the team is playing good football.”
