Longo: ‘No pressure at Espanyol’

Samuele Longo has been unveiled by Espanyol after completing his loan transfer from Inter, calling the move a ‘unique opportunity’.

The Italian Under 21 striker’s switch was announced earlier this morning on the Catalan outfit’s official website.

“It is true that I have little experience,” said the 20-year-old at a press conference this afternoon. “I am honoured to be here, and as a good attacker should I plan to score lots of goals for Espanyol.

“I do not know how to feel in truth, but I will succeed here.”

Longo is yet to break into Inter's first team despite helping their youth team win the Nextgen series, with legendary Italian Coach Arrigo Sacchi claiming earlier this summer the club is missing out on his exploiting his talents.

“I am fast and have good technique,” is how he described his playing style. “My favourite player is Fernando Torres, but my childhood idol was the Brazilian Ronaldo.”

The young forward was flanked by Espanyol President Ramon Condal and sporting director Ramon Planas, who stated that they expect Longo to flourish just as Philippe Coutinho, another Inter loanee, did last season.

“We wish him many glorious afternoons and goals with us.”
