Isco fully recovers from broken leg one week before La Liga opener

Isco had looked destined to be part of Spain’s Euro 2024 squad, before suffering a broken leg just days before the 2023-24 season ended. Since then, he’s been working his way back to full fitness, with the intention of being involved in Real Betis’ first match of the new campaign – against Girona next Thursday.

He’s yet to feature for Betis during any of their pre-season matches, but that could change on Saturday against Bayer Leverkusen. That’s because Isco has now returned to group training with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, as per Marca.

Isco was one of the best players in La Liga last season, and he’s sure to be a crucial player once again for Betis during the 2024-25 campaign. He’s probably not fit enough to start against Girona at the Benito Villamarin next week, but he should be in the matchday squad at the very least – providing that there are no setbacks between now and next Thursday.
