Spain’s Euro 2024 preparations have begun with their friendly clash against Andorra in Badajoz, and 24 minutes in, they’ve found the opening goal.
A deep corner was headed back into the danger zone by Pau Cubarsi. It was collected by Ayoze Perez, who rifled past Villarreal youngster Iker Alvarez to score on his senior international debut – an incredibly proud moment for the Real Betis forward.

Ayoze was a surprise included in Luis de la Fuente’s preliminary squad, although it was deserved, on the back of his very impressive form for Betis over the final few weeks of the 2023-24 season. Scoring will certainly have helped his chances of being named in the final 26-man squad, which will be revealed later this week.
A convincing victory should be the outcome of this match, and Spain will fancy their chances of scoring many more goals before the full time whistle is blown. It’s a big opportunity for some of those who are not guaranteed a ticket for the plane to Germany.
