Jose Bordalas claims referee said he “is fed up” of officiating Getafe matches

Alaves defeated Getafe 1-0 in their final home match of the 2023-24 season, which was the perfect way for the hosts to celebrate the contract renewal of head coach Luis Garcia. However, the fallout from the match has been centred around referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez.

Speaking to DAZN (via Relevo) post-match, Getafe manager Jose Bordalas made some rather serious accusations about what Figueroa Vazquez has said during the match at Mendizorroza.

“The referee said at the end of the game: ‘I’m sick of putting up with this team’. Imagine if that had been said by any player or any coach. Well, we would have been sanctioned. Now, there is no sanction for the referees. It’s what we can’t understand.

“Then he says, ‘I’m fed up with this team.’ Well, it always happens to us with this referee. It doesn’t happen to us with anyone else.”

The Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) is likely to respond to Bordalas’ claims in the coming days, and it’s not ruled out that La Liga or the Spanish Football Federation also get involved.
