Atletico Madrid keep up top four push in Mallorca win

Atletico Madrid remain on course to secure a UEFA Champions League qualification spot this season after a 1-0 away win in Mallorca.

Los Rojiblancos will have to fight for a top four place in the final weeks of the season after a mixed run of form in recent weeks.

However, despite the pressure of maintaining a top four spot in the run in, they have retained a crucial six point lead over fifth place rivals Athletic Club.

Rodrigo Riquelme’s early goal proved to be the vital difference between the two teams in Palma as the visitors battled on to secure three crucial important points on the road.

Qualification for the 2024/25 Champions League now remains in Atletico Madrid’s hands with four league games still to play this season.

Los Rojiblancos host relegation battling  Celta Vigo in their next league outing, with the current league standings favouring another Champions League place, despite an underwhelming campaign at the Estadio Metropolitano.
