Valencia loanee Alessandro Florenzi has chickenpox

Alessandro Florenzi has been diagnosed with chickenpox just two weeks after joining Valencia in a loan deal from Roma.

As outlined by Cadena Cope, the Italian has been kept away from the club’s training ground since Wednesday with the club confirming on Friday that chickenpox was the diagnosis.

The 28-year-old made the move to the Mestalla on a six-month loan in January with reports he is likely to join the club permanently this summer.

It follows an eventful start to his career in Spain, where he has made three competitive appearances for Valencia and was sent off for a straight red card offence in the 3-0 La Liga loss against Getafe a week ago.

The news comes as a blow for Valencia ahead of a crucial streak of fixtures for the club, including tonight’s (Friday) league clash against Atletico de Madrid and the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against Atalanta next week.
