Getafe boss Jose Bordalas ‘not thinking’ of Atletico Madrid job

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas insists he is not considering the possibility of replacing Diego Simeone at Atletico de Madrid.

Simeone has been coming under increasing pressure at Los Rojiblancos and whilst his side are currently fourth in the standings, they are just two points ahead of Valencia in seventh.

Atleti have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions and have scored just two goals in that time – one of which came at their shock Copa del Rey exit against third tier Cultural y Leonesa.

This form has coincided identically with Getafe’s remarkable run of four victories in a row to nil, which has seen them rise to third in the standings.

“I’m not thinking about the possibility of moving to Atletico de Madrid and in any case, their Coach is Cholo (Simeone),” Bordalas explained on Onda Cero.

“I do not allow myself to look into the future and I do not wish to speak about it, but of course you always work with the possibility of change and advancement in mind, it is natural.

“I would like to coach abroad at some point.”

Getafe narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot last season on the final day to Valencia, but they are on course to make amends for that this campaign.

The intensity and structure of Bordalas’s Getafe has drawn many comparisons to the style of Atletico under Simeone.
