Zinedine Zidane wants Achraf Hakimi back at Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has indicated he wants defender Achraf Hakimi to return to the club at the end of the season.

The Moroccan international is currently on loan at Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund as part of a two-year loan deal, which expires at the end of the season.

The 21-year old has impressed in Lucien Favre's side so far this season, after an injury disrupted campaign in 2018-19, however according to reports in Diario Sport, Zidane will not sanction a permanent move.

The report states that Zidane is 'happy' with Hakimi's performances in Germany, and the player himself has previously indicated his preference to return home at the end of the current campaign.

Hakimi made 17 appearances in his breakthrough season with Los Blancos, in 2017-18, however the form of Alvaro Odriozola pushed him down the pecking order in Madrid.

However, the tables have turned now, and Zidane is reportedly willing to let the former Real Sociedad defender leave the club in 2020, to make room for the return of Hakimi.

Experienced centre back Nacho Fernandez has also been linked with an exit, if Hakimi makes his expected comeback, however Zidane remains a fan of his versatility, and he is likely to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
