Atletico Madrid’s Nikola Kalinic set for Fiorentina move

Atletico Madrid forward Nikola Kalinic is in line for a January move to Fiorentina, following a nightmare loan spell at AS Roma.

The Croatian international was allowed to leave the Spanish capital on a season long loan deal to the Serie A side in the summer, after becoming the odd man out following Joao Felix's arrival at the Wanda Metropolitano.

However the move has not worked out for the 31-year old, with just one Serie A start to his name so far this season under Paulo Fonseca, and he has indicated that he wants to move on next month.

AS Roma do have a purchase option on the former AC Milan for the end of the current campaign, however given his lack of game time, they have already informed Atletico Madrid they will not be activated the clause.

Simeone is happy for Kalinic to move on, and Fiorentina, another one his former teams, have now emerged as favourites to sign him, according to reports in Mundo Deportivo.

However the Catalan newspaper stated that Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella is also weighing up other attacking options in the winter market, including Inter Milan's Matteo Politano and Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo.
