Barcelona’s Luis Suarez suffers injury scare in Levante defeat

Barcelona will await result of medical tests in the morning, following an injury to Luis Suarez in the 3-1 La Liga defeat at Levante.

The Uruguayan has struggled with knee and calf problems so far this season, and he indicated to the bench that he needed to come off after just 40 minutes at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Carles Perez replaced the 32-year old, who showed his frustration in an angry exchange with one of the club's medical staff at the side of the pitch.

Manager Ernesto Valverde confirmed that initial tests have not revealed the extent of the problem, and that he will be reassessed when they return to Barcelona in the morning.

Valverde added that he was hopeful that is was just an impact injury, caused by a heavy challenge from Levante defender Carlos Clerc.

Early indications would rule Suarez out of the midweek Champions League clash at home to Slavia Prague, but he could be fit for the weekend game with Celta Vigo, if there is no serious damage.
