Man City, Atletico Madrid linked to Brescia’s Sandro Tonali

Atletico Madrid are among the clubs holding an interest in Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, the club’s president has claimed.

Massimo Cellino name-checked Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City as being among the other clubs monitoring the situation of the 19-year-old central midfielder.

Nicknamed as ‘the new Andrea Pirlo’ – another former player of Brescia – Tonali rose to stardom for the club in Serie B and has been linked to Italy’s biggest clubs for some time.

The midfielder won his first cap for the senior Italian national team earlier this month and has started all eight matches for Brescia this season upon their return to Serie A.

“All the big Italian clubs are interested,” Cellino told reporters, as cited by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Abroad there’s Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, but in my view, he’d be better off remaining as a protagonist with Brescia.

“The other day, his agent and his parents were telling me about this €50m evaluation. I replied that for me he is worth €300m, which means I don't want to sell.

“I have a dream. If Sandro accepts, I am ready to make a big financial sacrifice to extend his contract.

“His talent is clear for all to see, but the truly special thing about Sandro is his smile. He loves to play football and the rest is of no real interest to him.”

Tonali previously starred for Italy at Under-19 and Under-21 level, while making 53 Serie B appearances for Brescia, who were promoted this year.
